29 Thus says the king:
Let not Hezekiah deceive you.
For he will not be able to deliver you out of my hand.
30 Nor let Hezekiah make you trust in and rely on the Lord,
saying, The Lord will surely deliver us,
and this city will not be given into the hand of Assyria’s king.
31 Hearken not to Hezekiah,
for thus says the king of Assyria:
Make your peace with me and come out to me,
and eat every man from his own vine
and fig tree and drink every man the waters of his own cistern,
32 Until I come and take you away
to a land like your own,
a land of grain and vintage fruit,
of bread and vineyards,
of olive trees and honey,
that you may live and not die.
Do not listen to Hezekiah when he urges you,
saying, The Lord will deliver us.
2 Kings 18:29-32
This passage is part of a larger one that describes Assyria’s army siege over Jerusalem. Here, Rabshakeh, one of the leaders of the Assyrian army, talks to the people of Jerusalem, trying to discourage them.
This ancient event resembles with something very contemporary. In the same way the Devil’s servants come to us trying to discourage us. We might have a good new pastor, one that really fears and obeys God. So the Devil sends a greater army to deceive us, to destroy us. In the same way we are promised earthly rewards. We are promised wealth and peace. But only the peace that comes from God is the real peace. The one that is not only exterior but the one that is also in our hearts and the most important will last for ever.
Devil wants to surrender to him. See in verse 31 the process that we are called to subscribed to, by the Devil. We have to stop listening to God and to any of His people. We have to make peace with the Devil, the lord of this world. We are called to subdue to him. And by doing us we are promised great wealth and the so called peace. In the same way the Anti-Christ will charm the whole word.
We have to be strong. To know in Whom we trust, to know our identity in Christ . So we have not to be charmed and fooled by this word that offers us the illusion of happiness and peace.
Peace I leave with you;
My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you.
Not as the world gives do I give to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled,
neither let them be afraid.
[Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed;
and do not permit yourselves to be fearful
and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]John 14:27
The only genuine peace and happiness we find in God. So, please, do not get fooled by the lord of this world.

Investigate my life, O God,
find out everything about me;
Cross-examine and test me,
get a clear picture of what I’m about;
See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong—
then guide me on the road to eternal life.Psalm 139:23-24
1-2 God, come close.
Come quickly!
Open your ears—it’s my voice you’re hearing!
Treat my prayer as sweet incense rising;
my raised hands are my evening prayers.3-6 Post a guard at my mouth, God,
set a watch at the door of my lips and eyes.
Don’t let me so much as dream of evil
or thoughtlessly fall into bad company.
And these people who only do wrong—
don’t let them lure me with their sweet talk!
May the Just One set me straight,
may the Kind One correct me,
Don’t let sin anoint my head.
I’m praying hard against their evil ways.Psalm 141:1-6

When anyone sins by betraying trust with God
by deceiving his neighbor regarding something entrusted to him,
or by robbing or cheating or threatening him;
or if he has found something lost and lies about it
and swears falsely regarding any of these sins that people commonly commit
—when he sins and is found guilty,
he must return what he stole or extorted,
restore what was entrusted to him,
return the lost thing he found,
or anything else about which he swore falsely.
He must make full compensation, add twenty percent to it,
and hand it over to the owner on the same day he brings his Compensation-Offering.
He must present to God as his Compensation-Offering
a ram without any defect from the flock,
assessed at the value of a Compensation-Offering.Thus the priest will make atonement for him before God and he’s forgiven of any of the things that one does that bring guilt.
Levitic 6:1-7
The wise pieces of advice for your life for today, based on the Christian perspective, are from Proverbs 13:13-25:
13 Ignore the Word and suffer;
honor God’s commands and grow rich.14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life,
so, no more drinking from death-tainted wells!15 Sound thinking makes for gracious living,
but liars walk a rough road.16 A commonsense person lives good sense;
fools litter the country with silliness.17 Irresponsible talk makes a real mess of things,
but a reliable reporter is a healing presence.18 Refuse discipline and end up homeless;
embrace correction and live an honored life.19 Souls who follow their hearts thrive;
fools bent on evil despise matters of soul.20 Become wise by walking with the wise;
hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.21 Disaster entraps sinners,
but God-loyal people get a good life.22 A good life gets passed on to the grandchildren;
ill-gotten wealth ends up with good people.23 Banks foreclose on the farms of the poor,
or else the poor lose their shirts to crooked lawyers.24 A refusal to correct is a refusal to love;
love your children by disciplining them.25 An appetite for good brings much satisfaction,
but the belly of the wicked always wants more.Proverbs 13:13-25
The Bible is full of advices and hints of how to have a good life. Indeed what matters most is what comes after this life. Nevertheless, God is interested of how we fell about living this life.
This morning God talked to me by Psalm 125:
Those who trust in God are like Zion Mountain: Nothing can move it, a rock-solid mountain you can always depend on. Mountains encircle Jerusalem, and God encircles his people - always has and always will.
The fist of the wicked will never violate.
What is due the righteous, provoking wrongful violence.
Be good to your good people, God, to those whose hearts are right!
God will round up the backsliders, corral them with the incorrigibles.
Peace over Israel!
What I understand is that:
Dear God,
Thank you for discovering me what I should ask from you. I am most honored that you spoke me and showed me what I need, what I should desire. So, please God:
AMEN
I know somebody that is rich in goodness, that is kindest person I ever meet and has given me great abundant blessings. He has such a soft voice and such a powerful hand. The best advices come from Him, because is more than a doctorate in the human soul. He understands my needs, my desires. And in the same time, He gives me what I need, not what my desires. I am much happier like this because most of the times I really don’t know what is the best for me, I don’t know myself good enough and I don’t know my future, what is ahead.
One Of The Today’s Thoughts

Continuing 1st book of Samuel, I read about how David spares again Saul’s life.
Here are the key texts:
I see those occasions that God gives to Daniel, when Saul’s life is in David’s hands, as a test. God already anointed David, and David knew that. So, that is why I really like how David continues to behave. It is said that give power to a man to see how he really is. This is what God did with David. At church, work or in another places we are given the opportunity to do something, to take decisions. When we are in that posture, our flesh is ready to show it’s real face. Are we strong enough to say “NO”? Am I going to do what God taught me, or listen to the flesh?
