Giving and Receiving Love

I have given you a land for which you did not labor and cities you did not build, and you dwell in them; you eat from vineyards and olive yards you did not plant.

Joshua 24:13

God blesses me, and also you, with things that we do not deserve. God is full of love . Am I following His example of love?

So be very courageous and steadfast to keep and do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, turning not aside from it to the right hand or the left

Joshua 23:6

Be very watchful of yourselves, therefore, to love the Lord your God.

Joshua 24:11

Everything depended on whether or not Israel would continue to be faithful to the covenant. Joshua’s words do not conceal his apprehension. Seven times he refers to the idolatrous nations still left in Canaan. He knew the snare they would be to Israel, and he therefore prescribed three safeguards. First, there must be brave adherence to God’s word (Joshua 23:6). Second, there must be a vigilantly continued separation from the Canaanite nations (Joshua 23:7). Finally, there must be a cleaving to the Lord with real and fervent love (Joshua 23:8-11)

J. Sidlow Baxter, Explore the Book

God’s love is unconditional . But still, God wants us to obey Him and praise only Him. What can we learn from this? God wants our love for Him in return. So, after all, now we do not ask eye for an eye, leg for a leg, but we ask for love because of love. And also the process of giving and receiving is different. Before if you hurt ones man leg your leg had to be hurt as well. Now, we do not have to wait to receive love, but we have to give love in advance . But what if we give love, but othing return back after a while. How much should we wait? Well, we should wait as much as God waits for me, and you. How much are you willing to give love and continue to do so?
