For some time now, I started a new project. I have to
- create the general layout and feel of the book,
- choose the fonts to match the feel of the entire book,
- design the graphics,
- arrange the text and everything else that a book involves except:
- to create the text (of coarse I am not the author… DănuÅ£ Mănăstireanu is the author)
- to print the book; I do not know where it will be printed and when.
The name of this Christian book/manual, that I have to design, is The History of Blessing (Istoria Binecuvântării) by Dănuţ Mănăstireanu.
Because I was so busy with my MBA and my daily job, I had no time for this book. But now the MBA is finished and until I start the doctorate it wakes some time. So, this is the perfect thing to do in my free time.

Unfortunately the format of the book is already changed to A4 landscape. The cover will not be as I designed it, but I will have to redesign it. This was just my first proposal for the book. After the discussions we had, I have to make changes. Now I am working on the actual book, on the inside.

I think your book is very nice but the thing that makes it it very cool is the shadow in the floor. You made it very elegant, but you may need to do something more attractive to the eye of the people. I don’t know if you are trying to show this to an elegant client.

This was just the concept that I presented to the customer. The concept evolved into the book. It is not finished yet, but soon it will be. If you like in Romania, you’ll find it on the bookstores’ shelves.
Regarding the front cover, I will do another one, a more appealing one as you and the author/customer suggested.

So if the format has changed, have you got some grabs of what it looks like now? I get bound up when designing book or magazine pages – where to put the folio, whether to have a header and footer etc.
Even though it has changed – I like the minimalist look of the front cover. Good work.

The project is frozen now due to the authors busy schedule. But as soon I talk with him, in less than a month the book should be ready for print and I’ll add another post regarding this book.
